Per rispondere alla seconda domanda della precedente parte devo aprire una parentesi e parlare un po’ di me.

L’ingresso al mondo del lavoro per le persone della mia generazione coincide con l’avvento dei primi personal computer che al tempo si chiamavano 286, avevano installato il DOS, i più fortunati Windows 3.1, un megabyte di ram costava un milione di lire e un Macintosh performante quanto un’utilitaria. Ma nonostante i costi e la farraginosità dei sistemi era ovvio che nel giro di qualche anno si sarebbero abbandonati i rapidograph a china e il tecnigrafo: tanto valeva affrontare la nuova era.

Alcuni miei colleghi si sono bloccati, rimandando nel tempo il passaggio obbligato: a me ha aiutato un’innata curiosità e la certezza che le tecnologie col tempo migliorano. Quindi ho seguito l’evoluzione dei principali software professionali che nel mio campo spaziano dal disegno vettoriale, alla fotografia digitale, ai database per i computi metrici, al rendering tridimensionale.

La risposta alla seconda domanda è: si, sono abbastanza geek!

Per rispondere alla prima ho deciso di investire un po’ di denaro e di tempo e sperimentare un sistema di illuminazione domotico di una prestigiosa marca olandese che mi appariva solida ed affidabile, la Philips, e ho acquistato lo starter kit delle lampadine Philips Hue.

To answer the second question of the previous part I have to open a parenthesis and talk a little about myself.

The entry into the world of work for the people of my generation coincides with the advent of the first personal computers that at the time were called 286, they had installed DOS, the luckiest Windows 3.1, a megabyte of ram cost a million lire and a performing Macintosh was as expensive as a small car. But despite the costs and the cumbersome nature of the systems it was obvious that within a few years the rapidographs and the drawing board would be abandoned: it was necessary to face the new era.

Some of my colleagues got stuck and postponed the obligatory step: I was helped by an innate curiosity and the certainty that technologies improve over time. So I followed the evolution of the main professional software that in my field range from vector drawing, to digital photography, to databases for metric computations, to three-dimensional rendering.

The answer to the second question is: yes, I’m pretty geek!

To answer the first I decided to invest some money and time and experiment with a domotic lighting system from a prestigious Dutch brand that seemed solid and reliable, Philips, and I purchased the Philips Hue light bulb starter kit.
